The Work
I’ve been working with this company for over five years now. It started off with a website revamp — nothing too complex, just a proper, clean site that showed what they do and helped people reach out easily. This was actually one of my first proper website projects after finishing my training, and I really enjoyed it. The client was easy to work with, I liked the culture, and we built a solid relationship. We wrapped up the new site for around R66,500, for up to 25 pages.
After that, they signed up for SEO and Google Ads. The market in Oahu is extremely competitive for roofing, and it wasn’t easy. Their rankings were up and down constantly, so I had to push harder on SEO — built out new location pages, sorted out technical fixes, and just kept improving the site month after month. Ads were stable and helped balance things out when SEO was under pressure.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was the local competition. There’s a lot of roofing companies fighting for those same keywords, so it wasn’t something that just worked with basic SEO. We had to stay on top of it, constantly improve, and keep pushing.
Another thing — as they grew, it got harder to connect regularly. During summer, they were slammed with projects and had no time to chat. But we made it work — when we connected, I got the feedback I needed, and we kept services running as they expected.
Results
Their yearly revenue was about R123 million in 2021, and they reached around R228 million by 2024. Leads stayed steady at 35–50 per month, and they went from a R38,000 to R114,000/month marketing budget, covering SEO, Google Ads management, and ad spend.
I don’t have exact close rates or cost per sale data, but I know the leads were coming in consistently and they kept growing their business — balancing private and government projects.
Overall
This was never about explosive, overnight success. It was about delivering proper services, staying consistent, and helping them stay competitive in a tough market. We kept the pipeline steady, stayed aligned even when communication was tricky, and I handled what needed to be handled.
